LYDTÆT

Independent art-project 01/2021 - 08/2021

A cross-institutional cultural platform that brought people closer together through the power of music.

LYDTÆT was dedicated to fostering dialogue about music while promoting cultural diversity. Through online masterclasses, workshops, talks, and live events, the platform provided a space for those seeking new ways of engaging with contemporary and experimental music. By supporting artistic growth and expanding the reach of niche music genres, LYDTÆT bridged audiences, artists, and institutions in innovative ways.

I made this project in collaboration with ARoS art museum in Aarhus, with the vision of bringing more music into the art museum. Due to COVID-19 I had to change the scope quite a lot, which resulted in building an online platform instead.

One of LYDTÆT’s signature projects, SEE THE LIGHT, was an installation designed to connect Denmark’s rich cultural history with an emerging and experimental music scene. This initiative created a visual and auditory link between musical aesthetics and the captivating narratives of nature.

At a time when digital presence had intensified, many felt emotionally disconnected from social media while increasingly drawn to nature. Recognizing this shift, LYDTÆT collaborated with FEUM and Det Turkise Telt to create an audiovisual experience at Kalø Slotsruin, one of Denmark’s most historically significant castle ruins. With special permission to perform at the site, the project brought together musicians and the professional film crew Impuls Film to capture a unique artistic fusion of sound and setting.

The featured artist, Nuri, embodied the essence of the project—blending North African rhythms with futuristic electronic elements to create a soundscape that transcended borders. His music, rooted in traditional percussive grooves and experimental electronic textures, symbolized the project’s vision: connecting diverse musical traditions in a seamless, immersive experience.

Although LYDTÆT is no longer active, it left a lasting impact on the cultural landscape, pushing creative boundaries and fostering spaces where music, history, and artistic innovation intersected.
